Baby Qs

Thank you for the congratulatory and flattering comments!

So as we commence on this journey, we have asked ourselves a few questions about some of the ins and outs of having and raising children and we thought we would post a few of our questions via the blog to get some input from our friends and family....and any of you strangers out there. We will try to post a new question each week. To let us know what you think, leave a comment and/or vote.

This week's Baby Q is:

Do you let strangers hold your baby?

If so, under what circumstances do you let someone you don't know hold your baby? Do you let them out of your site? Do you set a timer?

If not, what is the best way to tell them no?

A Winter Wonderland

Richmond, Virginia doesn't get a lot of snow each year. Usually it will snow an inch or two all winter and when the news warns of the remote possibility of it snowing, everyone will freak out. They run to the grocery store and stock up on bread, milk, eggs, and toilet paper. And even though all the snow is usually melted by the afternoon, most schools, churches, and businesses will be delayed or close altogether. So....when it said it was going to snow this weekend, we didn't think much of it.

BUT it ended up dumping over 17" in our area!

Our House

Our Street

Eventually, I shoveled two "tire tracks" in our gravel driveway on Saturday afternoon so we could at least get out to go to church. But when we made it to the church on Sunday morning, the parking lot was empty. I guess they canceled church, but didn't contact anyone, because they figured no one would be crazy enough to show up anyway. I love Virginia!

I think it helped that the snow came during the weekend. We didn't have to go anywhere, so we just hung out at home and enjoyed a nice fire and the peace that snow seems to bring.

Oh Christmas Tree

So, we went to our downtown Farmers Market to check out their local trees. We passed on their selection, but did manage to get a picture with Mr. and Mrs. Claus...and some books.

We ended up grabbing a tree from the depot for homes. The guy had me help him tie it to the top of our car. He had a thick accent and I must have misunderstood him during the process (and had a brain lapse), because we ended up tying my door shut.

But that was ok...I just got to play Dukes of Hazard for while. :)

Great Expectations...

Well Peeps!
I suppose it's the right time to share the amazing, exciting, nerve racking news with ya'll!
(Can you tell Virginia is wearing off on my vo-cab skills?)
We are officially going to be greeted by a little one come April 2010! Yep! We are expecting our first child, when we will be dubbed into the parents hall of fame club! Hooray!:)
So bring on the questions, inquiries, judgments and
un-solicited advice!:)
We are writing everything down!

Dear Ms. Betty Crocker,

Thank you.
Thank you for the simple, yet scrumptious results of
your boxed creations.
For $1.98, an additional three ingredients and less than
30 min. later I was enjoying my new favorite birthday treat.
You see, I am not one of those people who drools over cake of any kind (no offense to your wide variety).
However, my anxious tastebuds have fallen for your
TRIPLE CHUNK BROWNIES!
Taking full advantage of being a December baby, I top your fresh from the oven goodness with some seasonal Peppermint Ice-Cream and dallop some hot fudge on top.
Oh yes, life is sweet!

Sincerely,
Your valued customer-Ms. Bee

P.S. Feel free to send me any of those coupons I know you have just lying around. :)

Our House

So...we bought our first house in September and..... we've been busy ever since :)
The entire house was filled with old blue carpet and everything was painted blue. We both like the color blue, but this was overkill. In fact, because there was so much blue, we decided to not do any updates in blue.

We installed new carpet and painted the entire house. Picking colors was more challenging than we thought and we ended up with a slightly purple room (not shown here) that we did not expect, but we have made it work. On the flip side, we love the way our kitchen turned out!

This is definitely not all inclusive, and we've made some additional improvements since these pictures were taken, but at least this will give you an idea of what a few rooms look like and what we've done to make them our own. We promise to post more/better pictures later.

Turkey Day!

We were so happy to celebrate this Thanksgiving in our new home. And what made it more special was that Bee's entire family was able to come and celebrate the holiday with us.

We gave them a surprise welcome at the airport and shared our BIG NEWS!

Of course, "Mimi" freaked out!

They girls put together the turkey, which actually turned out to be pretty tasty.

We feasted!

The girls did some shopping.

We enjoyed lots of cheesecake, ice cream, fun games, movies, Monticello, fake snow, the science museum, and just hanging out together.

Since the entire fam. was together, we took advantage of the moment to shoot some family pics.
What a fun group! And by "fun," I mean spazy!

Thanks for giving us such a great Thanksgiving!!!

And then there were leftovers!

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."

Ahh! My family is on their way as we speak and we are so excited to have our first official house guests.
The air mattress' are blown and lots of love has been sprinkled on their pillows.:)

Have a great, happy, full of gratitude Thanksgiving everyone!

No pets, just peeves

So, here's your random thought of the day.
Or is it week? I know we are a bit delayed in our postings lately.:)

Anyway, I don't know if it's my old age or what but I feel as though I am becoming more cynical.
This all evolved from the simple act of sitting at my work desk, minding my own business when I hear coming from the reception area the sound of someone clipping their nails.
Upon investigation my fears were confirmed.

Is it just me, or does it drive anyone else batty when people clip their nails in public??

And if you are one of those people, beware.
There are other people, such as I, who are utterly and completely disgusted by this act.

To the Ohio

Bee was able to spend some time with the girls...in OHIO!

She had a ball of a time hanging out, cooking, shopping, and laughing.
