A Winter Wonderland

Richmond, Virginia doesn't get a lot of snow each year. Usually it will snow an inch or two all winter and when the news warns of the remote possibility of it snowing, everyone will freak out. They run to the grocery store and stock up on bread, milk, eggs, and toilet paper. And even though all the snow is usually melted by the afternoon, most schools, churches, and businesses will be delayed or close altogether. So....when it said it was going to snow this weekend, we didn't think much of it.

BUT it ended up dumping over 17" in our area!

Eventually, I shoveled two "tire tracks" in our gravel driveway on Saturday afternoon so we could at least get out to go to church. But when we made it to the church on Sunday morning, the parking lot was empty. I guess they canceled church, but didn't contact anyone, because they figured no one would be crazy enough to show up anyway. I love Virginia!

I think it helped that the snow came during the weekend. We didn't have to go anywhere, so we just hung out at home and enjoyed a nice fire and the peace that snow seems to bring.
