Date Night Drama

So, for our most recent date night, we decided to do something a little different..but simple. We drove out to a lovely (aka ritzy) area and tracked down a Little Ceazar's Pizza. Then we strolled on into a public park, found a bench and enjoyed the evening together.

Sounds simple enough. So some of you are probably wondering, where's the "drama?" Well, the part of this that J is a little hesitant to admit is the activity that followed the dinner....

So, we've been reading these books together; it's a great way to have something to share and enjoy together. When we first moved to Virginia (our first retirement) we read the Chronicles of Narnia together and really enjoyed it, but J needed a little convincing to join Bee in reading this latest (and oddly popular) series...

That's right, we've been reading the Twilight series together. We finished the second book last night and we're moving on to the third! So, there's the drama.

What a great life !

Anniversary Adventures !

So, here we are, celebrating our 4th year Anniversary of love and joy (August 5 is the exact date for anyone keeping score; if you guessed right, give yourself 25 points). This year, Bee finally got the perfume she's been dreaming of. And since J really likes the way it smells on Bee, it's a win win :) and J finally got a long awaited camera upgrade! (look for some more art on his updated hoffshots photo blog soon)

Since every one of our anniversaries have been in Virginia, we have usually celebrated our adventurous marriage by trying something new. This year, we decided to try a local restaurant called Europa. We had Tapas, which are like appetizers, but you usually get a few of them and share. It was perfect.

Once the weekend came, it was time for another adventure, so J surprised Bee with a getaway to a Bed and Breakfast (a recurring theme for our anniversaries) just outside of D.C. and a day of shopping in famous Georgetown.
Bee is such a crack up sometimes... ;)

mini karts & sushi hats

We like trying new things, which includes old things in new places. Like miniature golf and go karts in Williamsburg! We spent a sunny Saturday putting around the greens and the asphalt in this fun zone!
The girls were allowed to ride, even though they are somewhat height challenged...I blame gravity!
That's our dream car. "Stick shifts and safety belts, bucket seats have all got to go..."

We also enjoy eating out at new places. There are a lot of locally owned restaurants in Richmond, which is the perfect place if you want to try something new...and we do. A few weeks ago, we went to a place called...
Sticky Rice

J tried some Sushi and actually liked it.
We also get a kick out of taking random pictures when we go shopping. These were some impromptu hats that we fashioned at Ikea.
Life is Great!

Youth Car Wash / Yard Sale

So, a few months ago we had the brilliant idea of holding a car wash/yard sale to raise some money so our youth could attend camp. We had a lot of support from our ward and neighbors who donated several items, but we didn't have anywhere to put it so it all ended up in our front room...for 4 weeks!. These pictures were taken after about 2 weeks. There was a lot more "stuff" when it was ready to transport and sale.

But we had a lot of fun at the car wash and made a good chunk of change..cha-ching!
