Trent and Lichelle came to play!

If you've seen Trent and Lichelle's blog, then you've seen their version of their visit to our place in Richmond, VA.

And, while they were very nice and cordial, I feel like you deserve to know the truth. This is what really happened......

First item of business (as with all of our visitors), we drove an hour to the largest map we could find to play RISK! Trent won, of course..."The Ukraine is weak!"

This is where Trent & Lichelle stayed during their visit.
(please notice that we did provide them with their own set of wooden dishes, bucket, and a curtain for privacy)

Brooke made us play Texas Hold 'Em until she won all of our money....

And left us in time out to think about what we'd done.

Trent Sawyer built us a boat with his bare hands so we could cross the river to get to our next stop, Virginia Beach.

Nice Boat!

But, after Trent's boat sank for the third time, we used this log to make it the rest of the way.

When Lichelle finally found out that Brooke and I forgot to help paddle the log to Virginia Beach, she put us in these contraptions until we could spell the word "waterlogged."

After a grueling 3 hours, Trent and Lichelle helped us repent further by having us pedal them around Virginia Beach.

After 13 hours of leg cramps, we decided to get something healthy to eat.

Since we were back on good terms, we celebrated by crafting these "rad" hats and finally getting a picture with the world famous Nut Mobile!



Then we went swimming with sharks, but the sharks kept splashing water on us so we decided to rent a jet ski, however...

the only jet ski in town, was strapped to the top of a car being used in a demolition derby.



Finally, we decided to leave the beach and head to the mountains to pick some apples. Lichelle's blog is mostly accurate on the good times had by all at the Fall Harvest Festival this year, but she failed to mention our little discovery...

So there we were, picking apples...

when we found this delicious apple. It looked too good to be true, so we concluded it must be poisonous

We found this little girl singing and dancing in the orchard and decided to have her taste it first...

After she vomited a few times, we had her finish the apple and decided to go home.


On our way, we came across this van full of foreign apple farmers laying upside down in a dirt ditch.
Trent and I flipped the van over, spilling the foreign farmers and their apples all over the ground....free of charge.


For those of you who don't know, here's what Trent looks like under that shirt -
He's ripped!

On the way home, we stopped to smell the flowers.



I heard they smelled wonderful, but I had a hard time smelling them...


because someone (little singing dancing orchard fairy girl) stuck something up my nostrils!

Although much more happened during Trent and Lichelle's visit, I think this blog has absorbed enough space reveling the truth.


After Trent and Lichelle left, and we cried, we drove to our real home(s)...

Neptune Festival!

This weekend we headed to Virginia Beach for the annual Neptune Festival.

We lined the street with our friends for the parade.

We had to watch our language, because it's against the law to curse while on the parade route in VA Beach. Seriously....it's posted.

On with the parade.........

Apparently, they crown some old guy King Neptune...and give out Mardi Gras beads.

Our friend's little girl loved the princesses.

Bee liked the organ.

J liked this unsung hero of the parade we affectionately called...manure man.


This band was pretty cool; they had some good moves...

but lacked the technique displayed by this tiny dancer.....

Then it was on to the sandcastles

People come from all over the world every year to create and see these famous sand sculptures.

This one is called "Meet the In-Laws"
Here's a side view, which includes the dog house.

This one won first place.

We're still trying to figure out what this one meant.

After all the fun in the sun, it was time to cool off with some creamy frozen custard.

Neptune Festival 2005

So we found out about this festival in Virginia Beach (about 2 hours from Richmond) called the Neptune Festival.

We decided to make the trip and took a back road so we could experience more of what Virginia had to offer. We saw cotton fields and drove through the Peanut Capitol of the World!

They have a parade, local vendors, surfing competitions, sailing, football, volleyball, fireworks, and our personal favorite, the sandcastle carving contest. People come from all over the world to show off their talent with sand. It's AMAZING! - the pictures don't do it justice.
